How does registration work?
When you purchase a license, you will be emailed a unique registration code tied to your name. Pasting that code into the unlock screen (top-left button) unlocks the software on that machine. Once you have the code, registration doesn't require a connection to our servers for the unlock to proceed.
We have had a single report on macOS of a plugin needing to be unlocked separately in GarageBand and Logic.

I'm on Windows, and the DAW gets slow when I have many plugin windows open.
We've had a single report of this issue; we believe it's quite rare. Our plugins are heavily optimized, but support libraries we rely on may interact with GPU frame-rate limiting in complex ways.
Please check the following:
- As noted (but easily missed) in the plugin installer - please try to disable any frame-rate limiters, including GPU drivers, FreeSync, etc. We've seen interactions between high numbers of plugin windows (in some hosts) and frame-rate limiters causing host slowdowns.
- If you can open the plugin in an empty session, try switching the graphics engine from Auto or Direct2D to OpenGL, which is known to be more robust on some systems (at the expense of occasional visual glitches and slower graphics acceleration).
- Otherwise, if you're technical - navigate to
%appdata%\roaming\remaincalm, find the plugin name folder, the related plugin XML settings file, and change thegfx_renderersetting to2. - Contact us if you get stuck!
I upgraded to a beta but now want to downgrade to an earlier version.
- On Windows: just run the installer for a previous version.
- On macOS, manual operations may be required before running an older installer. We've seen macOS preventing older software from installing over newer software. Files that may need to be moved away to enable a fresh install include:
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/[plugin_name].aaxplugin/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/[plugin_name].component/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/[plugin_name].vst3
- Be careful not to move other plugins. Please contact support with any questions.
On Windows, the UI behaves oddly in Ableton Live after I change Live's plugin scaling options on high-DPI screens.
We believe this is an Ableton issue, but we're continuing to investigate it. The issue will go away if you close and re-open Ableton Live after changing Live's scaling options.
